Day 1 in Milan

We flew into the Malpensa airport, about an hour outside of Milan, and took a bus into town. Even though we were a bit jet-lagged, we spent the day in the city to celebrate Rob's birthday. We had lunch at a little cafe and then took a Segway tour of the city.

Day 2 in Milan

The next day, we woke up, had breakfast at a little pasticceria and then looked around a supermarket for a while.

Day 2 in Venice

In the afternoon, we took the train over to Venice and looked around Saint Mark's square for a while.

Day 3 in Venice

We started the morning with a tour of the Murano glass factory, then a water bus ride back to Venice, followed by a traditional gondola ride for the six of us.

Day 4 in Venice

We went through the Duomo, took an elevator to the top of the Bell Tower in San Marco square, and then took a boat tour of the city.

Day 5 Driving from Venice to San Gimignano

After leaving Venice, we drove along the A1 highway to San Gimignano. These are just pictures of trucks, signs, and the countryside.

Day 5 in Verona

On the way, we stopped in the town of Verona (famous for the story of Romeo and Juliet) for lunch.

Day 5 in San Gimignano

We arrived in the town of San Gimignano, where we're staying for 2 nights and walked around the town. The entire city is protected by a large brick wall.

Day 6 in Siena

Just a short distance from our hotel, we spent the day around Siena. First, we traveled to the Castello di Barolio for a walk around the grounds although we didn't get to do the wine tour. We walked around the city just for a short while before heading off to a 5-hour cooking class.

Day 7 in Orvieto

We left San Gimignano in the morning and drove to the small town of Orvieto, known for their underground caves.

Day 7 Driving to Rome

After our cave tour, we drove into the city of Rome. Didn't get a chance to look around much yet beyond what pictures I snapped by sticking my head out of the speeding car.

Day 8 in Vatican City

First thing in the morning, we headed over to the Vatican City to walk through the extensive museums and go into the Basilique of Saint Peter.

Day 8 in Rome

After the Vatican, we headed over to start looking through Rome including some of the ruins.

Day 9 in Rome

Big day in Rome. Went to the Colesseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and then a cooking class.

Day 10 in Amalfi

Kelly and Lee went home today. We drove down to the Amalfi coast area.

Day 11 on the Amalfi Coast

Today, we drove up and down the Amalfi Coast to a few little towns.

Day 12 in Sorento

We drove out to the area around of Sorento today and went SCUBA diving.

Day 13 in Ravello

We drove back to the town of Ravello to buy a custom-made flower pot for the kitchen.

Day 14 Boat Ride to Capri

We rented a small boat (and a skipper) to take us to the island of Capri and give us a tour of the coast.

We got off in the harbor of Capri and explored the island including going over to the Anacapri side.

Day 14 in Amalfi

We got back to Amalfi in the evening and went through the Duomo in town.

Day 15 in Amalfi and driving to Rome

We said our goodbyes to the hotel staff and drove back to Rome.

Day 15 in Pompei

On the way to Rome, we stopped to see the ruins of Pompei.
